The short version
When you follow certain links from this site and then sign up or buy something, we may be paid a commission by the provider or an affiliate network. You pay nothing extra. Not every link is commercial, and a commission never buys a recommendation.
How we mark commercial links
- Pages that carry affiliate links say so on the page, near the links.
- Affiliate links are ordinary, visible links. We do not disguise them or hide them behind text that suggests something else.

rel="noopener noreferrer", and affiliate or sponsored links are marked with the appropriaterelvalue.
What a commission does not change
- Whether an offer is described accurately, including its downsides.
- Whether we say we verified something. Check dates reflect real checks.
- The order of a list. We do not sell placement inside editorial rankings.
- Whether we cover a provider at all, or decline to.
Editorial independence
Commercial arrangements are agreed separately from editorial decisions. If a provider asks us to remove a criticism, overstate a benefit, or drop a check date, we decline and, where it matters to readers, we say that we were asked.
